First Meeting (Shiika)

Kotori sighed as she strolled down the streets. Tomorrow was her first day at Shibusen (AKA Death Weapon Meister Academy) and she still didn't have a partner. After two years of begging, her dear old grandpa had finally allowed her to attend Shibusen. Kotori thought that during the summer she could find a partner before the academy began but no such luck. "Why are so many people unavailable? It's like there's everyone with a partner except me," Kotori thought. "Maybe I didn't search hard enough....ugghh! Why did grandpa's lesson have to be 3 hours a day?" Kotori muttered angrily. Suddenly a familiar but an extremely pleasant smell flooded her nose. Taiyaki! Her stomach growled in reply. "I should probably get some food...maybe that's why I feel so grumpy," Kotori thought and ran to the shop.

"A new year is about to start and I still haven't found a partner."she sighed.It weird how my first two partners just quit all of a sudden. she thought to herself. As she walked around Death City she tried to think of some to tell the headmaster that she didn't have a partner when everyone else found one so quickly."I hope I find a partner soon,so else I might get partnered up with some idiot I don't even know."Right after she finished her sentence her stomach growled."I guess I'm hungry since I eaten anything since breakfast. She said kind of embarrassed luckily there wasn't a lot of people around her. When she turned around to go home she saw a taiyaki shop. When she went in she saw that it wasn't too crowded. Good.At least I don't have to wait as long now.

Kotori smiled as she entered into the shop. Nothing cheered her up like taiyaki did. She went up to the clerk and smiled, "My usual please!" The clerk nodded and handed her a bag She paid and sat on a chair to eat. As Kotori ate, she saw a girl enter in. She looked around Kotori's age maybe a little younger but for some reason Kotori perked up.

As she walked in she saw a girl look at her. She felt kind of weird, but not as weird as usual. Then she walked up to the counter and asked for one taiyaki. When she got her food she walked up to the girl that was looking at her. It didn't feel right, but she had to find out if was or not.

It wasn't until the girl started walking up to her did Kotori realize that she was staring. She tried focusing on her bitten taiyaki but Kotori could see that on the corner of her eye, the girl was walking towards her. "Hmm could she looking for a partner too? Or maybe she just wants that extra chair? Ooo calm down Kotori!" Kotori thought. When the girl reached her, Kotori looked up and smiled in a way that said 'Oh hello! Just eating my taiyaki, nothing special!'

"You must really like taiyaki since you used it as your excuse." she said while chuckling a little."Anyways my name is Shiika. Nice to meet you." she said reaching her hand out. Then she remembered something. "By any chance do you go to shibusen?"

Kotori laughed and shook Shiika's hand. "Yeah I really do! It's my favorite snack. My name is Kotori Takaki but you can just call me Tori. And I do go to-" Kotori stopped in mid-sentence and looked at Shiika with curosity. "Could she be looking for a partner?" Kotori thought. Realizing she didn't answer Shiika's question, she said, "Oh um yes I do go to Shibusen. Tomorrow is my first day!"

"Your first day huh. Well if you need anything you can ask me." she said smiling."Putting that a side.Do you happen to be a meister? Because my previous partner just quit and moved to a different city." She wasn't lying when she said her previous partner quit, but she was assuming that her partner moved to a different city.

Kotori grinned. "Thanks. And I do happen to be a meister! Are you looking for a partner too? Must suck that your partner quitted like that,". Excitement bubbled inside Kotori. Could today be the day that she finds a partner? She bit into her teriyaki happily.

"Actually I am looking for a partner." she said smiling and hoping that Tori was too. Taking the last few bites of her taiyaki, she got up and started to head for the trash can. When she finished throwing her trash away she headed back to the table Tori was at.

Kotori silently cheered and smiled back. "Me too! Do we want to be partners?" Kotori then added sheepishly, "Not like I'm pushing you too though...." Deciding to give Shiika some time to think, she got up and threw her trash away.

Shiika started to laugh a little at her sentence. "Sure. Why not.I mean a new semester is starting soon and it's better than being pared up with whoever Shinigami-sama wants me to pare up with. " I hope

Kotori smiled. "Alright!"
